A&O Hostels have opened their second hostel in Great Britain. The new A&O Hostel Brighton Palace Pier is located in the heart of the famous seaside resort of Brighton and offers 50 rooms with a total of 186 beds.
The listed building from the Regency era, which was originally built as a hotel in 1819, now serves as the new jewel of Europe’s largest hostel chain. CEO Oliver Winter is enthusiastic about the « great architecture and very good accessibility » of the new location. Extensive modernization work is planned for the winter months, with around 1.45 million euros to be invested.
The A&O Brighton fits into the company’s sustainable expansion strategy, which focuses on long-term successful locations. The hostel is another example of the boutique character that A&O is increasingly aiming for, after similar concepts have already been successfully implemented in cities such as Budapest. Brighton, an hour from London, offers its guests a mix of beach, city and cultural life and is considered a popular travel destination.
A&O Hostels, founded in Berlin in 2000, recorded over 3 million overnight stays in the first half of 2024, the highest half-year result in the company’s history. Further potential locations in major European cities such as London, Manchester, Paris and Barcelona are already being planned.
